Cosmix dreams, a story in three dimensions

Back to Andy and his cosmix friends, a 3D adventure that started in the 90s.

1994. Students in the art and design school of Amiens, we discover 3D with the Strata3D software and start to model objects of all kinds, urban furniture, camera, armchair and... characters straight out of our imagination.

Quickly modeled, a bit Japanese-like some would say, resembling Tintin others would say, this character will be called Cosmic Boy (reference to the title Cosmic Girl by Jamiroquai) before becoming Andy. Simple, uncluttered, devoid of expression, he comes to life on our little computer screens, animated with simple movements to create loops.

What to do with this character?

Create companions for him and invent a story!

First interactive experiences

Steven, Lucy and Roswell will be Andy's companions and will accompany him in interactive stories. These scenes where flying scooters, DJ turntables and Japanese TV meet create a singular and psychedelic universe mixed with techno.

Developed with Macromedia Director, this project will be noticed with those of Benoît and Vincent during the 1997 and 1998 editions of the Milia in Cannes and will contribute to lay the foundations of the experimental identity of Ici la Lune.

Dancing on the Moon

After a few years of 3D testing with Cinema 4D, Mograph and 3D printing with Sculpteo, we are back to our characters in a 3D animation launched in early 2015.

This video features a choreography of Andy, Lucy and Steven (Roswell has disappeared) in a lunar concert hall to a track by Musa Machina: Dancing on the Moon.

The 3D movie is modeled and animated with C4D. The dance movements of the characters come from Mograph with some famous and characteristic movements of some very famous artists...

3D printing

Thanks to the online 3d printing service Sculpteo , we had 2 versions of Andy made : one in color and one in white...
